Pedroglifos is a portmanteau of Pedro (the founder’s name) and petroglyphs, a form of imagery chiseled into rock. The combination merges beautifully, since the name Pedro means rock.

Pedroglifos was started in 2021 by brand designer Pedro Medina Leandry, a self-taught type designer based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Read more on the Foundry page.

Type design is a field that can greatly benefit from minority perspectives like queer, indigenous and people of color, especially when it comes to decolonizing our view of such an idiosyncratic aspect of human communication.

Depending on project scope, we are open to working with others to produce quality fonts. Past collaborations include Modestia with Josué Oquendo Natal and the Neopol Superfamily with Tural Alisoy. Write to studio@pedroglifos.com.

Yes, as long as you do not pass the font files on to unauthorized users. Always outline the text when sending design files, or embed the font in a PDF.

Yes, you can use our fonts to make wordmarks and logo identities.

Yes, as long as the product does not contain the font files, such as in templates or apps.

The Multi-User license lets you install the fonts on up to three (3) devices. See the License.

If you are a design, communications or other type of firm, the end client also needs a license of their own for the fonts used in their project. See the License.

The license doesn’t allow modifying the font files or making derivative works. If you need a personalized version — adjusted characters, new glyphs, extra features — that is our Font Modification service.

Yes. You may give a commercial printer a copy of the font for printing only, provided the printer deletes it once the job is done, or holds its own license.

Yes. Every font page has type testers where you can type your own text in each style, and a character viewer that shows every glyph.

Our fonts are delivered as OpenType fonts (OTF).

Yes. Every Pedroglifos font supports a wide range of languages written in the Latin script, and many also cover Cyrillic — see Caribbean Cyrillic — and Sato covers Greek too. Check each font’s character viewer to make sure the language you need is there.

Yes. We design bespoke fonts for brands and projects, personalize fonts from our library, and advise on typographic systems. Write to studio@pedroglifos.com.
